Crunchy Air-Fried Edamame (Vegan) — Recipe
Ingredients (2–3 servings)
- 1 bag fresh edamame (about 300–450 g in the pods or ~200–300 g shelled)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Paprika (1/2–1 tsp)
- Red chili powder (optional, 1/4–1/2 tsp)
- Extra virgin olive oil (1–2 tbsp)
- Optional: garlic powder (1/2 tsp) or lemon zest for extra flavor
Steps
- Blanch the edamameBring water to a boil.
- Add edamame and cook 3–5 minutes (until tender but not mushy).
- Drain & dry wellDrain completely.
- (Important for crispiness) Spread on a towel and pat dry.
- SeasonIn a bowl, toss edamame with:
- salt, pepper
- paprika + red chili powder (and any optional spices)
- olive oil (coat evenly)
- Air fryPreheat air fryer to 200°C / 390°F for 3 minutes (if your model supports preheat).
- Spread edamame in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
- Air fry 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
- Cook until crispy and slightly browned.
- Taste & serveTaste and adjust salt/spices.
- Serve hot.
Tips for maximum crunch
- Dry edamame thoroughly after blanching.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket.
- If needed, add 2 more minutes at the end for extra crisp.
