Crunchy Air-Fried Edamame (Vegan) — Recipe

Ingredients (2–3 servings)

  1. 1 bag fresh edamame (about 300–450 g in the pods or ~200–300 g shelled)
  2. Salt, to taste
  3. Black pepper, to taste
  4. Paprika (1/2–1 tsp)
  5. Red chili powder (optional, 1/4–1/2 tsp)
  6. Extra virgin olive oil (1–2 tbsp)
  7. Optional: garlic powder (1/2 tsp) or lemon zest for extra flavor

Steps

  1. Blanch the edamameBring water to a boil.
  2. Add edamame and cook 3–5 minutes (until tender but not mushy).
  3. Drain & dry wellDrain completely.
  4. (Important for crispiness) Spread on a towel and pat dry.
  5. SeasonIn a bowl, toss edamame with:
  6. salt, pepper
  7. paprika + red chili powder (and any optional spices)
  8. olive oil (coat evenly)
  9. Air fryPreheat air fryer to 200°C / 390°F for 3 minutes (if your model supports preheat).
  10. Spread edamame in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
  11. Air fry 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
  12. Cook until crispy and slightly browned.
  13. Taste & serveTaste and adjust salt/spices.
  14. Serve hot.

Tips for maximum crunch

  1. Dry edamame thoroughly after blanching.
  2. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  3. If needed, add 2 more minutes at the end for extra crisp.
